We have been breeding Ragdoll kittens in our Sussex home for more than 8 years. We moved to Gartly Aberdeenshire in 2008, where we continued to breed our Ragdolls and raise them in our family home.
We have currently decided to perspone our breeding program; no kitttens will be available for 2011/ 2012.
Our previous policy on breeding and releasing our Ragdoll's to new owners has been as follows:
It is important to us that our cats and kittens share in the life of our family, because of this we only sell to households that can offer similar security and entertainment. Ragdoll cats are intelligent, social creatures that will require company, either human or of other cats/ kittens - being raised in pens outside doesn't bring out the best of the Ragdoll's qualities and as a breeder it's great having the fun and warmth of "raising the family". They should not be allowed to roam free from the security of their home as they are not used to these conditions. We would rather not sell a kitten than have it lonely because these recommendations were not followed through.
We also require that you "pre-register" with your local vet before purchasing from us. Our Ragdolls are guaranteed health checked before leaving us, and it is a condition of sale that you get your kitten registered/ health checked by your vet within 48 hours of purchase.
If you can provide this care, and love the thought of being owned by a Ragdoll, we commit to the following. Kittens will leave us at approximately 13 weeks old having been health checked by our vet and fully vaccinated against flu and enteritis. They are Pedigree registered with the GCCF and on leaving us will have:
- Vaccination and health record
- A small supply of kitten food -which they have been fed on since weaning
- Six weeks free Pet Plan insurance
- 4 Generation pedigree certificate
- A New Owner Sheet giving recommendations on how to best care for them.
It is also possible to have your kitten micro-chipped, but we need plenty of notice to organize this service.
All pet kittens will be placed on the GCCF non-active register and must be neutered between 6 and 12 month's of age as suggested by your vet. GCCF transfer of ownership slips will be sent to new owners on receipt of a vet's invoice/ letter, showing that their kitten has been neutered.
We encourage all new owners to keep in contact with us and are always happy to give any advice needed on settling your kitten into its new home.
